At the center of Artifact 004 is Shibuya Crossing, one of Tokyo’s most recognizable urban scenes. Crowds move through the intersection beneath towering screens and dense city signage, creating a visual rhythm that already feels fast, layered, and slightly unreal.

For this piece, that movement is treated like damaged digital memory.

Figures duplicate, fragment, and break into pixel trails as they cross. Buildings and billboards lose sections to missing data, scanlines, compression blocks, and distorted image fragments, while Japanese text appears like corrupted metadata pulled from an incomplete archive.

A restrained palette of red, white, black, and aged cream gives the artwork a vintage print character while preserving the intensity of Tokyo’s visual landscape.
